Our Community

At Ard Cuan we have a real sense of community within the home and provide a setting where we hope our residents will become good friends. It is our greatest wish that our residents will feel a real part of our little family. However, we recongise the importance of maintaining ties with their own family and friends and so we encourage everyone to visit as often as they can, perhaps bringing loved family pets along.

In Portaferry where we are based in a beautiful rural setting, our residents can avail of all the local services from medical professionals to the optician and podiatrist. They can even have their hair done at their convenience, either in Ard Cuan or at the local Salon.

Because we have great ties with our local community and encourage all of our residents to become a part of it, we often welcome the community into Ard Cuan in the form of the primary school choir or local people to share interests or creative hobbies. Other firm favourites with residents are the singalongs and the visits from the petting zoo.
